Artist Biography

David Redmond was born May 23, 1977 raised in the rural countryside of northeastern Pennsylvania, in the Appalachian region where life was closely tied to the land. Growing up surrounded by forests, streams, and farmland, he spent much of his childhood outdoors—fishing, hunting, farming, and learning the practical rhythms of nature from an early age.

In a place where many families lived simply and relied on the land for food and survival, these early experiences shaped his understanding of work, responsibility, and the cycles of life. The forests and rivers were his first classrooms, teaching lessons about patience, resilience, and the balance that exists within the natural world.

As he grew older, those experiences began to deepen into something more reflective. What had once been a way of life gradually became a source of awareness. Observing the patterns of nature—the way life, death, and renewal move through every living system—led him to develop a profound respect for all forms of life.

Over time, this awareness transformed his relationship with the natural world. The wilderness that once represented survival and challenge became a place of reflection, compassion, and understanding. These experiences shaped not only the way he lives, but also the way he creates.

Art became the natural expression of that journey.

Working with a wide range of materials—including paint, ink, ash, wood, metal, stone, and natural elements—David creates paintings and sculptures that reflect the cycles of transformation found throughout nature. Many of his works incorporate materials that carry their own history of change, mirroring the same processes of creation, destruction, and renewal seen in the natural world.

In addition to visual art, David also explores these themes through writing, poetry, photography, and film. His upcoming book, Reset, continues his exploration of humanity’s relationship with nature, awareness, and the deeper patterns that shape life.

After more than twenty-five years of creating privately, David has chosen to share his work publicly for the first time. Through his art and storytelling, he hopes to encourage others to slow down, observe the world around them, and rediscover the quiet beauty and interconnectedness that exists throughout life.

For David, art is both a form of expression and a form of observation—an ongoing exploration of the relationship between nature, awareness, and the creative spirit within us all.
